If you are considering starting a construction related degree but are put off by the cost or are worried about managing financially during your studies then this could be for you?

Construction Skills Inspire Scholarship

The Construction Skills Inspire Scholarship offers 60 successful applicants a grant of £9,000 to help them survive the financial strain that a University Degree can often involve.

The Scholarship also provides the opportunity of a 10 week work placement, during the summer of your first study year, where you can get real day-to-day experience of working for a construction company relevant to your chosen course.

In your second year you’ll also have the chance to enter a competition which could net you a further £4,000.

How to Apply

You can apply for a scholarship if you are a UK citizen and can demonstrate that you have the potential to succeed within your chosen career.

• Civil Engineering
• Construction & The Built Environment
• Construction Project Management
• Environmental Engineering
• Facilities Management
• General Surveying
• Quantity Surveying
• Structural Engineering

Closing date for applications is end of April 2010.  The website will be re-opening autumn 2010 for 2011 applicants.

About the Scheme

The Inspire Scholarship Scheme is organised by ConstructionSkills and was created to address recruiting problems within the industry due to a lack of suitably skilled and qualified staff. The scheme aims to match motivated students with employers who appreciate the benefits of engaging staff at an early stage of their career.  Applications are accessed on merit and matched with suitable employers who make the final selection.

If you are short-listed you can expect to be invited for an interview by a potential sponsor before being offered the scholarship.
